Two of my favourite people from 2013 were Andy and Esther, and their Byron Bay, Cape Byron Lighthouse, wedding was host to stunning weather, an amazing crowd, happiness, love and a marriage ceremony.

I asked Andy to write down a few words about his big day:

Being a groom with a super organised bride to be, whom I love dearly, I said yes baby I would love to go to a wedding expo with you, and this is where my story begins. As I entered with my excited bride I like many other grooms were a bit overwhelmed with colour choices, photographers, dress makers, hair stylist, bootcamp fitness freaks that where there all for that one special day… the wedding day… it just seemed to go on and on. I did my best to stop my eyes from glazing over but there are only so many colour swatches a man can handle in one day!!

Out of nowhere my day took an unexpected turn when a man who I did not know at the time came up to me and asked me a odd question ‘Can I marry you?’ I was a little bit dumbfounded at first until I realised that I was being asked by a wedding celebrant called Joshua. Well I can’t remember what we really looked at that expo but the only thing I took from it was I had the name and number of a celebrant that obviously can have a laugh and seemed to have a radiant personality.

And that’s what Esther and I wanted for our ceremony, we wanted it be fun, we wanted it to be moving and engaging, we wanted it to be a celebration of our love, not a boring ceremony that was dated and not engaging to our friends and family. So we decided to give a Joshua a call. We met up with him a few times before the wedding, and I actually came out of those meetings wanting to talk to Esther about the ceremony and how we see ourselves as a couple and what I wanted from the ceremony. And as a groom I had not really thought too much about the ceremony before and I appreciated it being a easy process that Joshua guided us through, not a chore.

On the day of our wedding my heart was pounding, I was excited and nervous, and when I saw my bride walking towards me I knew that it was a big moment in my life. And this was something I wanted to share with the people I love. I really enjoyed the ceremony, I had a beautiful bride, but we also had a celebrant that listened and Joshua gave us everything we wanted. And he really helped in setting a great atmosphere with all our guests. We had laughter, we had tears, we had a great time, we had the wedding of our dreams!!

Thanks Joshua, we were happy to have you involved in our special day, you gave us what we wanted, a day that we will remember for the rest of our lives!!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
