I create awesome marriage ceremonies

Hi! My name is Josh and I create marriage ceremonies. Not those weird awkward ones everyone hates, but really fun, meaningful and awesome ones. I create marriage ceremonies that matter.

My ceremonies have been described as short, fun, meaningful, “awesome”, “the best”, with hints of coffee and citrus, a pleasing aroma, and a warm, tasty, chocolate aftertaste. Seriously though, couples, parents, grandparents, guests and vendors all give me 5 out of 5 stars when it comes to the most important part of a wedding or elopement: the ceremony.

We’re a team that are passionate about celebrating marriage in a really fun, meaningful, and enjoyable way. We are indulgent in our sense of importance that the wedding ceremony holds. Crazy about creating meaningful and memorable moments where two people enter as friends and leave as husbands and wives. We believe that the marriage ceremony is the pinnacle of the wedding, not the pre-show, and that it deserves the best.

Josh Withers

I became a marriage celebrant over nine years ago after seeing a family member’s ceremony become the butt of everyone’s joke at the reception, hearing the celebrant laughed about, and seeing everyone look forward to the bar tab opening instead of the ceremony beginning. I’m not the wedding police, I’m not the guy that will usher in all of the wedding traditions. I’m 100% into creating an event where the two of you get married and everyone applauds and has a ball!

Travel Fee

I live on the Gold Coast, so for travel to Noosa through to Ballina, including Brisbane, Toowoomba, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast there is no travel fee. On request I can offer a quote for travel, it’s not something we make money on, we just ask you to cover the cost of me getting there.

Here’s travel fees for popular destinations.
Sydney, Hunter Valley, Central Coast, NSW Southern Highlands: $600.
Melbourne, Canberra, Adelaide: $750.
Perth and WA Southwest: $1000.
Bali, Queenstown NZ: $1200.

To retain my services for your wedding I ask for a retainer, some people call it a deposit, of $700. This secures your date and I cam get a start on your legal paperwork and planning your wedding.

The service contract below details everything, but in short, the retainer is due to secure the date, final payment is due in four months, or one month before, whichever date falls sooner.

Immigration help

We’re 100% unable to provide any advice or guidance on immigration or visas

Same love?

How good is it that marriage equality has been brought to Australia!

I take responsibility for all legal paperwork according to Australian or USA law and registration in the state where the marriage ceremony took place. For international weddings, legal paperwork on Australian soil before or after the wedding.

How many meetings?

As many as we need, seriously, it could take one meeting or a hundred, I’m just interested in getting to know you and making a really good wedding ceremony

Video recording

If you don’t already have a videographer, I can record your marriage ceremony on my Mevo camera!

It sits on a monopod and records the ceremony for you, and I’ll send you a Dropbox link.

This is an included/free service!

Audio recording

My PA system provides a high quality audio recording of your ceremony that videographers love (if required).

I would rather meet with you a million times before the wedding than attend a rehearsal, only because I don’t believe rehearsals make weddings better – I think they make them worse. Putting so much stress on everyone performing well like it’s a school play. This is real life, and I’ve got your ceremony covered 😉

Notice of marriage needed?

Australian law says that before you can be married, we the celebrant must receive some paperwork from you before one month before the wedding. So if your wedding is less than a month away, we can’t marry you.

Can we hold your date?

We can only hold your date on receipt of your booking form and a deposit.

Sound System

I bring a Sennheiser LSP-500 loud and amazing PA speaker system with wireless microphone and bluetooth audio, perfect for plugging a band or an iPod or phone into, a completely wireless, battery-powered awesome sound solution that every single person in your wedding can hear.
