This calculator lets you shape the kind of ceremony you want and then shows you the value behind the estimate: the hours of writing, planning, travel, setup, and care that go into doing this well. It’s not about ticking boxes to add fees — it’s about understanding how much work, intention, and experience is required to create the moment you’re imagining.

Legal minimum only – Two minutes of legal wording and only the legal vows. No ceremonial elements, no guests. Simple – A simple ceremony with flavour and smiles. Creative ceremony – A ceremony created from scratch around the two of you, who you are, and why you're getting married.

Guide & examples – Simple tips and structure ideas. Vow workshop – Joint session to shape your words. Co-writing – Hands-on co-writing and editing.

How firmly do you want me locked to your date?

Flexible paperwork-only – Minimal commitment; paperwork and ceremony only, the date can and probably will change. Lock specific date – Firm booking; I keep the date for you but might take other bookings on that day. Full-day hold – Exclusive hold for the day; no other bookings.

Meetings

How many meetings do you want before the wedding?

No meeting – You will take responsibility for the pre-marriage paperwork (the NOIM) and there will be no phone or video calls, or meetings, before booking me as your celebrant, or before the wedding. Two meetings – A pre-booking meeting to make sure I'm the right celebrant for you then one planning meeting where we prepare your pre-marriage paperwork, the notice of intended marriage form, and I witness it, plus we talk about how the ceremony should go (one hour). Three meetings + – The pre-booking sales meeting, an early paperwork and planning meeting where we prepare your pre-marriage paperwork, and then a pre-wedding planning meeting and we really dial in exactly how your ceremony should feel.

Contact frequency

How much back-and-forth contact do you expect during planning?

Infrequent and late contact – Minimal check-ins; consolidated updates closer to the date. Frequent email contact – Regular email updates and replies. Frequent email & phone contact – Emails plus occasional phone calls. Email, phone, text, and DMs – High-touch contact across all channels.

Care Factor

How much care and energy do you want from me as your celebrant?

Negative care-factor – Intentionally low care and energy. Not recommended. Bare minimum care factor – Basic, minimal care throughout planning and on the day. Expected care factor – The care and attention you should expect from me. Extra care and listening – A higher-touch experience with extra care and attentiveness.

Who is coordinating the wedding logistics?

No dedicated coordinator – You and your vendors coordinate the day yourselves. On-site venue coordinator – Venue provides coordination on the day. Dedicated wedding coordinator – A coordinator manages logistics and vendor timing. Dedicated wedding planner – A planner leads end-to-end planning and coordination.
