Greyleigh
A luxury 200-acre heritage estate in the Kiama hinterland with country-to-ocean views, five distinct event spaces including converted dairy silos, and exclusive-use farmhouse accommodation — where heritage farmland meets high-end design.
Greyleigh is one of those venues you find and immediately hope no one else discovers. Set on 200 acres of private countryside in the Kiama hinterland on the NSW South Coast, this restored 1800s working dairy farm has been transformed into one of the most stunning wedding venues in the state — blending heritage rural charm with seriously luxurious design.
What makes Greyleigh genuinely special is the rare combination of country and coast. Rolling green hills flow down toward ocean views of Kiama beach, with the Illawarra escarpment as a dramatic backdrop. The property features five distinct event spaces, a 100-year-old fig tree, heritage fruit orchards, converted concrete silos turned cocktail lounges, and luxury farmhouse accommodation — all yours exclusively for the weekend.

Is This Venue Right for You?
Best for: Couples who want the “wow factor” — a venue that genuinely makes guests gasp when they arrive. Greyleigh suits a huge range, from intimate 50-person celebrations in The Gazebo or Orchard to grand 250-guest weddings across The Lawn. The five distinct event spaces mean you can design a wedding day that flows through different settings. It’s ideal for couples who want rustic heritage charm but with luxury design and modern comfort.
The vibe: Country-meets-coast luxe. Heritage farmland that’s been elevated to something extraordinary — think converted dairy silos with fire pits, cocktails by the pool, ceremonies overlooking the ocean, and dinner in a restored 1800s barn with designer interiors. It’s simultaneously rustic and refined. The farm animals (alpacas, Shetland ponies, cows) add genuine character. Voted Best South Coast Wedding Venue 2024 — and you can see why.
Getting there: About 2 hours south of Sydney CBD via the Princes Motorway, in the hinterland just behind Kiama. Sydney Airport (SYD) is the nearest major airport at about 2 hours. Illawarra Regional Airport is closer but has limited commercial flights. The drive down the coast is pleasant and well-signed. Guest transport for the evening is essential — the venue is rural, and there’s no rideshare in Jerrara.
Where guests stay: 18 guests sleep on-site across The Homestead (12) and The Guest House (6) — both must be booked together for exclusive use, with a two-night minimum. For everyone else, Kiama (10 min) is the ideal base — a beautiful coastal town with boutique hotels, B&Bs, holiday rentals, excellent restaurants, and genuine charm. Gerringong (15 min) and Berry (25 min) also have great options.
Nearby amenities: Kiama is one of the best town bases for a wedding weekend anywhere on the South Coast. The famous Blowhole, rock pools, coastal walks, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and breweries are all within minutes. Guests can easily fill a weekend — swim at Cathedral Rocks, walk the coastal path, lunch at a Kiama cafe, explore Berry. It’s a genuine destination, not just a venue.
Weather & Seasonal Guide
Kiama’s coastal position gives Greyleigh a mild, temperate climate — moderated by the ocean to the east and sheltered by the escarpment to the west. It’s one of the more weather-forgiving venues on this list.
- Summer (Dec–Feb): Warm days averaging 24–26°C with ocean breezes keeping it comfortable. February is the wettest month (~130mm) with the highest humidity (~78%). Long summer evenings are perfect for outdoor celebrations — the pool and cabana are a genuine bonus for wedding weekend guests. Late afternoon storms can roll in from the ocean.
- Autumn (Mar–May): Arguably the best season. Days around 20–23°C, lower humidity, beautiful golden light across the rolling hills. Drier and more reliable than summer. The countryside views from The Lawn are spectacular in the warm afternoon light. April and May are wedding photographer gold.
- Winter (Jun–Aug): Mild for winter — days around 15–16°C, nights 9–10°C. Rainfall at its lowest (~52mm in July). Cool but rarely cold thanks to the coastal influence. The Gables provides a warm, atmospheric indoor reception space. A good off-peak option with lower costs and reliable dry weather.
- Spring (Sep–Nov): Fresh and increasingly warm, from 17°C to 23°C. The estate greens up beautifully. Humidity at its lowest in September (~66%). A lovely time for outdoor ceremonies with reliable weather before the summer rain pattern kicks in.
The key thing to know: The ocean influence means Greyleigh rarely gets the extremes you’d find inland — it’s not as hot in summer and not as cold in winter as venues like Mona Farm or Somerley House. The Gables provides a solid wet weather backup, so rain doesn’t ruin anything.
Planning Tips
- Capacity: 50 to 250 guests depending on space configuration. The Gables is the main indoor reception (150 seated), The Lawn handles up to 250.
- Exclusive use: Two-night minimum stay (three nights on public holidays). Both houses must be booked together.
- Move through the spaces: Ceremony in the Secret Garden, canapes in the silos, reception in the Gables, late-night in the Orchard — this flow is one of the best things about the venue.
- Dog-friendly: Dogs are welcome with conditions — must be on leash and away from farm animals.
- Photography: Country-to-ocean views, heritage architecture, the fig tree, converted silos, rolling paddocks — every corner is a backdrop.
- Transport: Guest transport is recommended for the evening. Kiama is only 10 minutes away for pickup/drop-off.
