Spring Bay Mill

An industrial-chic wedding venue reborn on Tasmania’s East Coast, overlooking Maria Island and surrounded by nature’s calm.

Spring Bay Mill is unlike any other wedding venue in Australia. Set on 43 hectares of reclaimed industrial land on lutruwita/Tasmania’s east coast, it’s where raw, rusted beauty meets sustainability and serenity. Once the world’s largest wood chip mill, it’s now a deeply intentional venue with ocean views, native bushland, and a serious story to tell.

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that breaks free from cookie-cutter traditions, where your vows echo through amphitheatres of up-cycled timber and celebrations stretch into the salty sea air, Spring Bay Mill is your canvas.

My Experience Here

I’m passionate about the environment a ceremony is created in and there’s something about the now-still-chaos of the former industrial sheds and eqiupment that brings an intimacy and stillness to the mill. I’m excited to be a preferred and local wedding celebrant for Spring Bay Mill.

Plus the venue is home to some great wet weather backups!

Venue Highlights

  • Sweeping sea views from Windlass Bay to Maria Island National Park
  • Industrial-chic function spaces like the Tin Shed and the Jetslinger Amphitheatre
  • Accommodation for up to 118 people, from luxury beach shacks to glamping
  • In-house catering sourced from onsite organic gardens
  • Fully off-grid, sustainable ethos woven into every detail
  • Onsite event planner to help bring your vision to life
  • Optional experiences like tree planting, bush tucker tours, and Welcome to Country ceremonies

Planning Tips

  • Best season: Spring through autumn is ideal; winters are quiet but beautiful with moody skies.
  • Sunset timing: The venue faces east, so golden hour photography happens earlier in the afternoon; plan your ceremony to capture the light.
  • Transport: It’s a scenic 90-minute drive from Hobart; organise guest shuttles if needed.
  • Accommodation: Onsite options are fabulous and eco-luxe, but for larger guest lists, consider overflow accommodation in nearby Triabunna.
  • Weather: It can be windy on the coast—embrace it or plan with wind-friendly florals and styling.
  • Accessibility: The site is sprawling with both outdoor and indoor areas, so be clear about guest mobility needs.
  • Experiences: Add a tree planting session or a Welcome to Country for extra meaning and connection to place.
